Ecotoxicologist (m/f/d)

For 25 years now RIFCON GmbH is an independent scientific consulting company offering comprehensive professional services for the registration of synthetic and biological plant protection and fertilising products (e.g. biostimulants, fertilizers, inhibitors etc.). Our head office is located in Hirschberg near Heidelberg in Germany. About 200 employees offer services ranging from complete EU registration packages, general consultancy work to sophisticated GLP field studies and various combinations of these elements. Furthermore, we offer environmental planning and environmental monitoring including eDNA services.

For our Ecotoxicology team located in Hirschberg and Ludwigshafen we are looking for an Ecotoxicologist in full-time to assess potential risks to aquatic and terrestrial non-target organisms exposed to plant protection products in the agrarian landscape.

You will be involved in various aspects of registration activities for plant protection products under Regulation (EC) 1107/2009 including:

• Preparation of ecotoxicological risk assessments according to EU regulations and national requirements (e.g. for pollinators / bees, aquatic and soil organisms)
• Development of higher-tier risk assessment approaches including recommendations for field studies
• Evaluation of scientific data and scientific peer reviewed open literature according to registration requirements
• Preparation of dossiers, reports and expert statements for registration purposes
• Comprehensive ecotoxicological work, such as study monitoring, QSAR assessments, Classification and Labelling and statistical analysis for various ecotoxicological studies
• Evaluation of authority requests and commenting
• Communication with clients and authorities
• Project management and strategic consultancy

• Scientific background (biology, ecotoxicology, entomology, ecology or equivalent discipline)
• Professional experience in the field of (regulatory) ecotoxicology of > 5 years
• Expertise in a specific area of ecotoxicology (e.g. terrestrial organisms, ED) is beneficial
• Expertise in statistical analysis of biological/ecotoxicological studies is beneficial including knowledge in R statistics
• Experience in GLP & technical understanding is beneficial
• Very good level of written and spoken English, other language skills are advantageous
• Self-motivated
• Excellent communication and team player skills
