Short description

For 25 years now RIFCON GmbH is an independent scientific consulting company offering comprehensive professional services for the registration of synthetic and biological plant protection and fertilising products (e.g. biostimulants, fertilizers, inhibitors etc.). Our head office is located in Hirschberg near Heidelberg in Germany. About 200 employees offer services ranging from complete EU registration packages, general consultancy work to sophisticated GLP field studies and various combinations of these elements. Furthermore, we offer environmental planning and environmental monitoring including eDNA services.

For our Wildlife team located in Hirschberg and Ludwigshafen, we are looking for an Ecologist in full-time to assess potential risks to wild birds and mammals exposed to plant protection products in the agrarian landscape.

These tasks are waiting for you

You will be involved in various aspects of registration activities for plant protection products:

  • Preparation of dossiers addressing ecotoxicological risk assessments for wild birds and mammals according to EU regulations and national requirements
  • Development of higher-tier risk assessment strategies including recommendations for field studies
  • Evaluation of scientific data in the context of wildlife risk assessment and expert statements
  • Evaluation of scientific peer reviewed open literature
  • Project management for clients
  • Coordination and preparation of meetings with clients and regulatory authorities

You convince us with

  • Scientific background (wildlife ecology, biology, ornithology, mammalogy)
  • Profound ecological knowledge of European bird and/or mammal species, particularly of the agrarian landscape
  • Professional experience in the field of regulatory ecotoxicology is advantageous
  • Very good level of written and spoken English
  • The ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and team player skills
